Today, I received a call from someone claiming to be from the Commonwealth Bank, informing me about a suspicious $900 transaction that was supposedly halted this morning. When I inquired about which account was involved, the caller repeatedly stated they couldnโt disclose that information due to privacy concerns. I asked if they could at least share the last digit of the account number, but they refused and only provided the first digit of my card, which is common to all cards. The caller insisted on providing a reference number and offered to transfer me to cancel the transaction. I asked for the reference number so I could verify with my bank, and then the caller abruptly ended the call.
The caller claimed to be from the Latitude Credit Card Fraud Department and accurately provided my details, making it seem legitimate. However, they asked me to confirm my card details. I asked them to provide the details first, and I would confirm if they were correct. At this point, I realized it was a scam. Do not share any information with them!
